Part Time Ph.D, M.Phil - UGC Regulation on Distance Education
There was some confusion on the Distance Education Regulations of The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India
As per the UGC circular on M.Phil & Ph.D courses at Universities, there was no specific approval for Part Time Or Off-Campus Ph.D/M.Phil courses.
Earlier, The Tamil Nadu Government has issued a note to all universities that the Ph.D/M.Phil courses through distance education mode are invalid. All the universities are advised to conduct the Ph.D courses for Regular students only.
So, beware of the institutions' and their agents who promise a Part Time Ph.D for you.
